"Bull Fighting" Mike and Hebe Hong Kong Promotion

Mike He and Hebe Tian yesterday went to Hong Kong to promote Bull Fighting. Hebe herself, has not made a public appearance in Hong Kong for almost 1 year. Thus, when the two arrived at Hong Kong airport, they were immediately surrounded by screaming fans. It took almost half an hour for them to get from the airport to their awaiting car, proving their high popularity.

Idol drama “Bull Fighting” with the high popularity of Mike, Hebe and Lee Wei has successfully attracted attention in Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Australia etc, and the broadcasting network earned a massive TW$40,000,000 from overseas. From the 19th , “Bull Fighting” is airing every Saturday in Hong Kong. Hence, TVB invited the two leads to Hong Kong for 3 days and 2 nights to participate in 15 promotional activities. Promising a high standard of hospitality, Hebe and Mike’s entourage, make-up artist and manager alone were given 6 people to look after them. TVB also booked the entire hotel to prevent outsiders from entering, reflecting the importance of the two.

When Mike and Hebe emerged from the airport, they were immediately surrounded by awaiting fans. The two had 10 body guards to protect them, and it took them more than 20 minutes to get to their car. Hebe smiled and said: “The fans in Hong Kong are like the weather, very passionate.”

In order to participate in this promotional trip, Mike and Hebe had to get up extremely early in the morning; due to an allergy reaction on Mike’s face, he did not put on any make-up. Mike said: “I don’t know why but a few days earlier, I got an allergy reaction, my make-up artist wishes for my skin to rest so she insists I do not put make-up on.” However the high status him, even when he goes to the toilet, there are swarms of female fans waiting outside the toilet for him!

Jay receives 8 nominations for Golden Melody Awards

The 19th annual Golden Melody Awards (GMA) announced this year's nominations yesterday. Jay Chou (President Chou) received nominations for his work in 'On the Run' and 'Secret.' His two albums were nominated for popularity awards as well as performance awards, for a total of 6 individual nominations. Jay is really the big winner!

Last year, President Chou received 4 nominations, winning only 'Best Producer for a Single.' But only getting stronger with defeat, this time around he has put out two things in one breath: his newest album 'On the Run' and the original soundtrack (OST) for his movie 'Secret'. His works have been gloriously nominated for the following categories: 'Song of the Year', 'Best Mandarin Album', 'Best Composition', 'Best Album in the Performance Category', 'Best Producer', and 'Best Composer'. Aside from these 6 personal nominations, his song 'Blue & White Porcelain' has earned Vincent Fang a nomination for 'Best Lyricist' and Zhong Yu Min a nomination for 'Best Arrangement'. Altogether, Jay has 8 nominations under his name, a comeback from last year.

Yesterday, after Jay heard the news, he happily expressed, "Getting nominated for 8 categories, I haven't disappointed the hopes of my fans! The judges' taste is not bad!" He is especially happy that his first attempt at a movie OST has received recognition and approval. In addition, this year, his good partner Vincent Fang has created a record of being nominated for 'Best Lyricist' eight years in a row. Today he will be flying to Chongqing to prepare for the charity concert tomorrow.

Nicholas Teo trading "goody-two-shoes" for dancing shoes

Disco, waltz and chair dancing, you probably won’t connect them to singer Nicholas Teo... at least not till his upcoming concert.

Popularly known as Zhang Dong Liang, the 26-year-old Malaysian singer isn’t planning a change in his profession, just a change in his repertoire and maybe image, as well.

The singer many call a “goody-two-shoes” will be putting on some dancing shoes when he takes to the stage for his maiden concert “From Now On Live in Singapore” to be held on 31st May.

Since stepping onto the entertainment scene after winning a talent quest in 2002, the “Prince of Ballad” has been noted for his singing abilities rather than dancing.

But he is eager to give his fans something different when they turn up at the Suntec Convention Hall.

“I want my Singaporean fans to know that there can be another side of me which can be fun. So I had a discussion with the management and we decided to include these acts,” Nicholas enthusiastically announced to the media when in Singapore recently.

Although the singer has had no prior dancing background and is still nursing an injury sustained during a concert in Indonesia, he is determined not to let anything get into the way of his performance.

“The initial stages were hard as I had to start from scratch to master the basic moves. Even after getting the steps right, my instructor commented that I looked dead-panned when dancing”, he laughed.

Will all the training pay off? It seems most likely, especially for Nicholas’ female fans.

“I will drench myself and then remove my shirt,” he cheekily teased the media when pressed for details of his show.

But as expected, the entertainer best loved for being the-boy-next-door, quickly added that there won’t be too much for parents to worry about since he has taken into account the negative feedback from his concert in Taiwan where his sexy routine with a female dancer wasn’t entirely well-received.

After all, Nicholas may have his heart set somewhere else, such as with Taiwanese singer Cyndi Wang, his co-star in the idol drama Smiling Pasta.

But surprisingly, the young lady whom he’s been romantically linked to isn’t the special guest on his show, as widely rumoured.

Nicholas revealed that Faye Zhan, vocalist of popular Taiwanese pop-rock band Fairyland in Reality (F.I.R.), will instead be making an appearance.

“Many friends offered to help out for this concert. However, due to clash of schedules and other unforeseen circumstances, I was able to get Faye as my special guest. I am sure many fans will be surprised with this unique combination” explained Nicholas.

Hmmm... so maybe the rumours about Cyndi Wang were true after all, except plans by Nicholas' special lady-friend to appear alongside him fell through.
