Charlene goes solo

With Gillian Chung on extended vacation, her Twins partner Charlene Choi has to go it alone in the entertainment scene.

It looks like Charlene Choi is pretty much going solo these days as her Twins partner Gillian Chung is taking a break from the Hong Kong entertainment scene.

Twenty-seven-year-old Chung, who is on extended vacation after her sex photo scandal with Edison Chen, will be going to Japan where she will mainly learn about singing and dancing.

That will effectively keep the gossip-plagued artiste out of the limelight for some time, as she will be unreachable for several months, at least.

Choi, 25, has her hands full juggling her packed filming schedules between two major Hong Kong films – Wind and Cloud: Storm Riders 2 and The Butterfly Lovers– which will keep her busy till mid-year.

She portrays Wind’s (played by Ekin Cheng) wife, Second Dream, in the much-awaited Storm Riders 2. She also stars as the female lead, Zhu Ying Tai, in The Butterfly Lovers alongside Wu Chun, of Taiwanese boyband Fahrenheit, who will be making his big-screen debut as Liang Shan Bo.

Nicholas Teo, Malaysia concert

KUALA LUMPUR: Nicholas Teo wowed a 9,000-strong audience in his debut concert on home soil on Saturday night.

He started off with a succession of fast dance numbers beginning with the concert theme song, which marked his first try at dance music.

Local songwriter Chen Ying Jian specially composed the retro pop electronic dance number Xin Ge Shi Chang (Try Singing a New Song) for the concert.

Teo, 26, who is said to have lost 5kg while preparing for the concert – held at the indoor arena of Stadium Putra, National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil – even danced while singing the fast numbers, which was a new experience for him.

His fans, friends and family came from Britain, South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore to watch the concert.

Apart from rendering his usual crowd-pleasing Mandarin numbers which had fans singing along, Teo also won them over with Korean, Japanese, Cantonese, English and Malay numbers.

His guest artiste was popular fellow Taiwan-based Malaysian singer Fish Leong, also known as the Queen of Love Ballads.

Together, they delivered close to 30 songs in the over two-hour concert.

“Nicholas From Now On Live in Malaysia” was organised by Warner Music Malaysia, Astro and MyFM, co-ordinated by Star Planet and co-sponsored by LG Mobile, Besta, and Cool Rhino.

Kevin Subtly Supports Rumored Girlfriend

Kevin Subtly Supports Rumored Girlfriend. Hopes to Go Through Life and Death with Niki.

Yesterday Kevin Cheng and Shirley Yeung attended a function in Guangzhou. At the function, many middle-aged housewives came to see Kevin. They shouted, “I want Ka-Wing!” During an interview Kevin revealed that he’s getting ready to film BF3. He will be playing a couple with Myolie Wu.

At an earlier interview rumored girlfriend Niki Chow expressed that she didn’t want to play a couple with Kevin again. Regarding this Kevin said he will leave it for the company to organize. “I’m not against filming another romance series with her, but we’ve already done several and they’ve been pretty similar. If we were to film again, we should try something new. We can do a martial arts period drama where we fight for life and death. This would be very refreshing.”

Kevin will begin filming BF3 in May. He said that BF2 was his first TVB series. It’s been 7 years. Time really flies. The script is in its editing process so all he knows is that he will be playing a couple with Myolie Wu. “I haven’t worked with her before. It should be a fun pairing.” Kevin also revealed that he’s currently trying out dancing. “I’m actually afraid of dancing. I always feel that I can’t dance well. But recently I’m trying to challenge myself. I’m currently trying out latin dancing and the cha cha.” Reporters suggested that he should take it to another level and film a dancing series. Kevin had a shocked expression on his face. “Wow that is a great challenge. It would become my representative work.”
