Kwon Sang-woo Drops Lawsuit

Korea's heartthrob kwon Sang-woo dropped his $1.9-million lawsuit against his former agency. Kwon and his ex-agency Best Flow (formerly Yuri International) have been locked in an eight-month legal battle over the allegation of Best Flow pocketing Kwon's share of profit worth 1.9 million dollars. Best Flow had also sued Kwon for defamation and embezzlement, but this suit has been withdrawn as well. The two sides also agreed not to launch any civil or criminal suits over these matters in the future.

Kwon's current representative Golden Thumb Entertainment said that there was no reason to continue the legal suit, since the management at Best Flow has been replaced with new people. Bruce Lee Highlights Chinese Martial Arts Stamp Album

The China News Services reported that the stamp album, published on Friday, is the first one introducing Chinese martial arts systematically to the world using stamps.

The Movie Kung Fu Lovers have attracted alot of press and audiences because the idol cast and the new take on the well known love story Butterfly Lovers. Driector Ma said several points in his film. He said he really like the cast and think it is perfect. He said he really like Charlene's feminine abilities and hope to show that side off to the audiences, he also praise Wu zun to be very professional and always asked for direction or guidence to make the movie come out at its best. When asked Director Ma what the ending will be like, Director Ma disclose, I believe Guys are not suppose to be like the old version and died at the ending by puking blood, instead guys are suppose to fight for their love and if they lose they can't say anything. Zai Zai fought with 200 men after he was found out he was a spy. There are more than 200 people cast in this scene as "gangsters".

ZZ arrived in the location at 11:00 pm and rest in his van for a while. When he got off the van, he sat next to director Cai and watched other actors on the small monitor.

ZZ read the script at his free time even if he had very few lines in this fighting scene:
Late midnight, the moment everyone is waiting for: It was ZZ's turn. When the scene was called in action, ZZ turned "Ruffian" and made everyone in the filming location laugh.

HONG KONG -- "Painted Skin" will be the first in a trilogy of feature film adaptations of China's most famous classic ghost stories and the start of a series of TV spinoffs, Kathy Lan, president and managing director of Golden Sun Films told The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday.

Given Chinese censors' tastes, the adaptations of "Liaozhai Zhiyi" (Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio) will move away from horror in favor the fantastic, Lan said.

The $15 million fantasy "Skin" is set to release on September 28 on over 1,100 screens in China, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. It was directed by Gordon Chan ("The Medallion") and stars martial arts idol Donnie Yen ("Dragon Tiger Gate") and actresses Zhou Xun ("The Banquet") and Zhao Wei ("Red Cliffs").

For the $20 million second installment, producers are negotiatimg with actress Zhang Ziyi to play the lead opposite Yen. A story has yet to be chosen, but the sequel is set to begin production in 2009, Lan said.

Producers are also planning 40-episode TV spinoffs for each film in the trilogy. Each TV series will feature a new cast and be made for 30 million yuan ($4.3 million). Small screen production of "Painted Skin" will begin in China in the fall.

"Skin" the feature will be distributed in China by the Shanghai Film Group and in the rest of Asia by the newly-established Golden Sun subsidiary Eastern Mordor Film Co. Lan hopes to conclude sales to Europe and Japan at the upcoming Cannes market, where Golden Sun will screen 20 minutes of footage.

"Skin" was produced by eight investors including China's Ningxia Film Studio and the Shanghai Film Group, Singapore's Mediacorp Raintree Pictures and Hong Kong's Golden Sun Films and Salon Multimedia Center. Salon provided equipment.
