Yan Cheng Xu Is No. 1 In Treasure Finding

It was reported after the serious and reserved Yan Cheng Xu concentrated on the filming of Hot Shot, he has received a lot of offers and invitation for new drama projects, especially GTV's.

Yan Cheng Xu put in his whole effort when filming Hot Shot. Although there were injuries here and there, overseas copyright has been sold for NT70 millions, even before the drama is broadcasted. This made GTV which owns its copyright super happy, and hopes to invite Yan Cheng Xu to join with Joe Cheng and Lin Yi Chen in another drama, relying on Yan Cheng Xu's high popularity overseas for continuous profits making.

Because of Yan Cheng Xu's overseas market value, GTV is going to work with him again and to make him the No. 1 of GTV.

GTV, which has usual cast including Fahrenheit, Joe Cheng, Show Luo, Zhang Shao Han, Lin Yi Chen, has full confidence in Yan Cheng Xu's potential in the international markets, so it has targeted him to team with Joe Zheng and Lin Yi Chen in an upcoming idol drama, Skip Beat (Hua Li Di Tiao Zhan in Chinese), which is adapted from a comic series from Japan and will start filming in October. The script will be tailored by the writer team of They Kiss Again. Regarding Lin Yi Chen's other drama project, Paper Rose (Zhi Mei Gui in Chinese), although it is temporary set with another actor, actually the production team has another candidate in mind that GTV won't give up the hope yet. Hot Shot's director, Lin He Long, indicates that Yan Cheng Xu is the most serious actor he has worked with , including Show Luo, He Jun Xiang, Wu Zun, etc... During the filming, Yan Cheng Xu didn't have any temper outbursts at all. When compared with Show Luo, Yan Cheng Xu is more reserved, but both worked hard. In Starlit, he will play in another love story after Meteor Garden. He is going to totally differentiate his new character from DMS, playing the sadden prince, Cheng Yue, with a few crying scenes. Because of the experiences from the rumors, this "Golden Goose" will fall in the sadden mode of his character more easily.

The "Assembly" Wins Big at Student Film Festival

The "Assembly" by noted Chinese director Feng Xiaogang swept three heavyweight awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor, at the 15th Beijing Student Film Festival that closed on Tuesday night.

Feng Xiaogang, who snapped the award for the first time, said he was thrilled for his 14-year film career grew with the film festival, which turns 15 this year.

The Beijing Times reported that number of applications and entries was the most ever this year and the red-carpet show for the closing ceremony was studded with stars.

A total of 23 awards were given out during the ceremony and Zhang Hanyu in "Assembly" and Miao Pu in the Chinese and Japanese cooperative production "Phoenix" were crowned the Best Actor and the Best Actress, respectively.

Jackie Chan campaigns against piracy

Martial arts mega-celebrity Jackie Chan is putting his star power to work against film piracy in China, an industry executive says.

The huge billboard in Beijing's Silk Market has Chan saying: "Protect the movies, say NO to piracy." The billboard was joint effort of the Beijing Silk Street Co. and Chaoyang Model Anti-Copyright Infringement and Piracy-Free Zone, the Daily Variety reported Tuesday.

The Hong Kong actor's message is expected to reach more than 20 million people in the two weeks it will be up. The Silk Market is a shopping area once known for its counterfeit goods, including pirated DVDs.

"Chan's message to Beijing's citizens is direct and simple," said Mike Ellis, MPA's regional president and managing director.

The MPA recently announced the winners in a copyright protection-themed student film contest and last week signed an agreement with the seven most popular Chinese Web sites to promote copyright protection for U.S. movies.

Jang Hyuk goes to Singapore to promote new movie

In his first Hollywood movie, Jang Hyuk is in Singapore to promote his new film, “Dance of the Dragon” with Jason Scott Lee and Singaporean actress Fann Wong.

This is Jang-Hyuk’s first English speaking role, so we are curious on how good his English is. In movie trailer 1, the Korean actor does not say a word, so we don’t know how his speaking skills are. But in trailer 2, he stutters out 1 short sentence, “But I’m….I’m a dancer.” (at 1.07). Is this an indication of what’s to come?

After weeks of speculation, renowned Taiwan singer Elva Hsiao officially returned to EMI Virgin Records at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon.

In 1998, Elva became the first artist signed under the EMI Virgin Records label, and the company helped to push her to numerous career highs. Now, in 2008, Elva is back with EMI, the place where her talent developed.
