Jimmy Lin new movie to be filmed in Sichuan to be postponed indefinitely

Jimmy Lin just returned to Taiwan from China. He heard about the earthquake in Sichuan yesterday and got many phone calls from friends who thought that he was in Sichuan filming his new movie. He immediately contacted the director and found out that the production crew is okay.

Director Sun Xiao Yu received an award from Taiwan film festival 台湾金马奖国际影 for her movie 岗底斯 . The new movie she is working on 《跳动爱情的密码 is about a modern musician (Jimmy Lin) who wanted to use Sichuan puppets in his MV and time-traveled to the time of his father’s puppeteer’s era. An endearing love story followed. This movie uses dance concepts to present Sichuan puppets. The director wants to present a traditional art thru modern methods.

Jimmy’s plan to go to the US to learn new dance steps for the movie and his concert tour has also been postponed. He was in a recording studio during the earthquake and could feel a slight movement but didn’t realize it was an earthquake like the one 32 yrs ago in TangShan. His manager said, “The director has told everyone that the movie has been postponed indefinitely. Jimmy’s plan to go to the US is also postponed. We have contacted the China Red Cross and will throw ourselves into fund-raising activities.”

Jimmy said, “I went thru the 921 earthquake. The power of this earthquake is 8 times more shattering than that. If you are in-door during the quake, you must stay calm; turn power, gas and water off and hide under furniture. If you are outdoor go to open-space areas.”

His original plan was to fly from 汕头 to Sichuan for a meeting with the director but because of recording problems he changed plans and went back to Taiwan. He lamented about life’s uncertainties. He called for all to give money or time for the victims.

(Jimmy is lucky that he wasn't in Sichuan during the quake or today's news would be very different!)
